Situation

We were engaged by this long-term client to extend the fire detection and Early Warning Intercommunication Systems throughout the Taylor Sports Centre, enabling greater control of their staff and students in an emergency.

Actions Taken

Benefits of the upgrade include:

+ Installed new Notifier 3030 detection system, which was added into the existing school detection network.

+ Installed detection through entire building, including Xtralis OSID beam detectors in the sports courts and pool areas.

+ Installed new Notifier I-2000 emergency warning system and added this onto the existing warning
system network.

Outcomes

+ Successfully ran a full-school evacuation and lockdown test with all staff and students safe and accounted-for; therefore, proving the effectiveness of the upgrade.

+ Site-wide control of fire system from the main fire indication panel (FIP).

+ Individual buildings can be isolated at the main FIP, with remainder of school being left operational.

+ Site-wide manual operation of the warning system and public address from central location – including integration of the site’s existing school PA, bells and announcement system.

+ Site-wide “lockdown” integrated into the warning system and this can now be activated from any of the panels in an emergency.
